Big Pharma Stocks Plummet as UN Exercise Reveals Next Pandemic Is Bacterial: "Our mRNA Can't Fix That"

NEW YORK - In a stunning new development that has left pharmaceutical executives reaching for their emergency ventilators, Moderna and Pfizer have reportedly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after the United Nations and WHO's latest pandemic simulation exercise, Exercise Polaris II, confirmed the next global health crisis will be caused by a bacterium rather than a virus.

Big Pharma Stocks Plummet as UN Exercise Reveals Next Pandemic Is Bacterial: "Our mRNA Can't Fix That"

"This is devastating," said a tearful Stéphane Bancel, CEO of Moderna, while clutching a half-finished vial of experimental mRNA hantavirus goo. "We spent years perfecting our spike protein technology for viruses that mutate every Tuesday. Now they're telling us it's going to be some boring bacteria that antibiotics could probably handle? Our entire business model is ruined!"

The World Health Organization wrapped up Exercise Polaris II this week - a two-day global simulation of a deadly new bacterium spreading "from pole to pole."

Organizers swear it's pure coincidence that they named it after the North Star while role-playing an Antarctic-adjacent nightmare straight out of John Carpenter's 1981 horror classic The Thing.

The exercise, involving 26 countries and over 600 experts, simulated a fictional new bacterium spreading worldwide. Unlike previous viral scenarios that conveniently lined up with mRNA vaccine pipelines, this one featured pesky antibiotic-resistant bugs that don't respond well to "trust the science and inject lipid nanoparticles" messaging.

Pfizer saw its stock drop faster than a CNN viewer’s IQ during a debate. "We had contracts ready for Hantavirus-mRNA shots, bird flu-mRNA shots, and even 'whatever the WHO dreams up next'-mRNA shots," lamented CEO Albert Bourla from his yachtt. "Bacteria? That's old-school. Where's the patent goldmine in that?"

As governments scramble to stockpile actual medicine instead of experimental gene therapies, sources close to the UN say the next exercise will probably involve a fungal pandemic "just to keep things interesting."

Big Pharma remains cautiously optimistic that they can lobby for mRNA antifungals by 2028.

At press time, the simulated bacterium had already escaped the exercise, developed a variant that only affects conspiracy theorists, and was last seen demanding more funding for "trust-building initiatives."

Officials insist everything is fine.

Just remember: In the event of a real Polaris-style outbreak, the WHO recommends staying calm, trusting the experts, and keeping a flamethrower handy. For safety.
