VLGR TikTok Division Declines Participation on EU Influencer Program
The division was initially open to the idea. Creating short, positive, vertically filmed content about European leaders for a younger audience sounded like the kind of low-effort, high-visibility activity we could get behind.
Then we read the small print.
Participants will be granted access to press areas but will not be allowed to ask questions.
They will be accompanied at all times by Council staff.
The program is unpaid, and creators must not have published views against EU values.
At that point, enthusiasm within the TikTok Division collapsed.
While vlgr has no philosophical objection to producing positive coverage of the European Union, we do have a long-standing policy against being escorted through press rooms under constant supervision.
We also heard the sandwiches are Halal.
The vlgr TikTok Division will therefore be concentrating its efforts on cute little goat videos instead.
